P9M Latching Pushbutton

  26/03/2018

Product development is a vital part of our industry - and OTTO Engineering’s decision to revisit its popular P9 switch offers a new solution for customers looking for a latching switch which can perform under severe conditions.

The P9M pushbutton is a small, sealed, normally open, latching switch, ideal for basic ON/OFF functions.

Unlike the momentary action of the P9 - which remains in the ‘on’ position only whilst it is being pressed - the P9M offers the same excellent performance under severe conditions, but with alternate action.

Alternate action switches - otherwise known as latching switches - need to be pressed once for ON and once again for OFF. The most common example of alternate action is a light switch.

The P9M is a quality precision switch designed for use in control panels, grips, computers, instruments, and other applications for which attractive, rugged, long-life pushbutton switches are required.

Just push the button to latch it into position, and push again to unlatch.

Sealed to IP68S, it has a mechanical life of 200,000 cycles, and can be operated in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. With thermoplastic housing and button construction and 15/32" standard bushing (like the P9), its contacts are silver with gold mounting hardware.

A number of design options are available, allowing easy visual differentiation. There are nine choices of button colour, and an option of flush dome or raised dome button profiles, which are available in gloss or matte finish.

OTTO has been designing control switches for over 55 years with the needs of customers in mind, and its products can be found in some of the toughest environments - including heavy equipment, aerospace, marine, medical, and communication.

Nexus can always advise the best choice of electronic switches and the addition of the P9M to OTTO’s range gives the P9 range additional flexibility.
